
The People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), currently leading in Guyana, launched its campaign for the 2025 elections on July 13, 2025, showcasing an impressive turnout of over 30,000 enthusiastic supporters gathered around Kitty Market Square in Georgetown. Clad in red and echoing chants for “five more years,” the large crowd marked the commencement of the campaign leading to the September 1 General and Regional Elections, centered on the theme “Forward Together for a Better Guyana.”
Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips delivered a passionate address aimed at the opposition coalition, APNU, criticizing their approach to race and division within society. “Diversity for them is an afterthought,” he asserted, emphasizing the party’s commitment to a multiethnic and inclusive vision since its inception 75 years ago.
Phillips, steadfast in his allegiance to the PPP/C, proclaimed, “I will be red till I dead…” He urged supporters to prioritize their voting registrations and emphasized the importance of their participation in the upcoming elections, stating, “A vote on September 1st represents a commitment to continued progress.”
In concluding his remarks, Phillips rallied the crowd around themes of unity and resilience, reiterating, “The Red Army is stronger than ever…” He thanked everyone for their overwhelming support and pledged to deliver five more years of growth and visionary leadership under the PPP/C.”
