PRESIDENT Dr. Irfaan Ali has reinforced his administration’s commitment to fostering development in all areas of Guyana, from the coastlands to the hinterlands. He articulated that tangible progress should extend beyond the capital, Georgetown, reaching even the most isolated and underserved regions.
During the inauguration of the Onderneeming Water Treatment Plant in Region Two, President Ali emphasized the importance of improving critical infrastructure, including water supply, roads, healthcare, and education. “We are striving to eliminate the disparities in opportunity based on geography,” he stated, affirming the People’s Progressive Party/Civic’s (PPP/C) dedication to inclusive development that benefits all Guyanese.
The President highlighted that Guyana’s current growth trajectory is not solely a product of recent oil discoveries but rooted in long-standing initiatives designed to provide essential services to the population. He recalled the struggles of the 1990s when many families lacked access to clean water, inspiring a vision to ensure that every home has this basic right.
President Ali expressed gratitude to past leaders of the PPP/C for their relentless efforts toward the region’s development, emphasizing that the party’s commitment goes beyond opportunistic cycles. “Our dedication to Region Two is continuous and unwavering,” he concluded, reaffirming the PPP/C’s commitment to be a steadfast partner for all Guyanese, in both challenging and prosperous times.
