President Dr. Irfaan Ali, during a campaign rally on Sunday at the Kitty Market in Georgetown, recognized the difficulties faced by his administration over the past five years. He emphasized the resilience of his government, which has positioned Guyana as the fastest-growing economy despite numerous adversities.
He acknowledged that nearly two years of development progress were hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath. Additionally, the nation was hit by three significant floods and faced skyrocketing global fuel and food prices.
In his address, President Ali pointed out the intentional efforts by opposition forces to create instability, stating there had been more than three serious attempts to undermine the government. Nevertheless, he asserted that his administration has remained strong and focused on its goals, attributing this resilience to unity among its members.
As he campaigns for a second term, Ali assured the crowd that they could depend on the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) to consistently stand by them. “You can count on this team to support you every day,” he stated, calling for collective strength to drive Guyana toward a successful future.
