President Xi Jinping has emphasized the importance of young people as the future of the nation, urging them to take on the role of builders of a strong country and advocates for global peace.
During his visit to the memorial hall commemorating the Hundred-Regiment Campaign in Yangquan City, Shanxi Province, Xi engaged in thoughtful discussions with students and officials. He expressed, “The hope is reposed in you and the future belongs to you,” encouraging the youth to diligently pursue their goals, advance with confidence, and take pride in their Chinese heritage.
This visit was particularly poignant, coinciding with the anniversary of the July 7 Incident, also known as the Lugou Bridge Incident, which marked the onset of China’s comprehensive resistance to Japanese aggression in 1937. Xi laid a floral tribute to honor the martyrs of the Hundred-Regiment Campaign, which lasted from August 1940 to January 1941.
He reflected on the sacrifices made during the 14-year struggle against Japanese forces, advocating for remembrance of history as a guiding principle for future generations. Xi posited that understanding the past is crucial in preserving the strength and resolve demonstrated by the Communist Party of China and the Chinese populace.
His call to action for the youth encapsulates a vision of resilience and commitment to peace, reminding them of their vital role in shaping a harmonious world.
