In a distressing case from Colorado, prosecutors have announced plans to dismiss charges against Solomon Galligan, a registered sex offender, following an attempted kidnapping incident at Black Forest Hills Elementary School. The 33-year-old was accused of trying to abduct an 11-year-old boy during recess in April 2024. However, the local District Attorney’s Office determined that Galligan was incompetent to stand trial, leaving them with no choice but to drop the charges.
Notably, the attempted abduction was captured on video, showing Galligan pursuing the young student as other children fled. The incident has understandably alarmed parents, prompting one, Dante White, to express his fear regarding the situation, saying, “Especially seeing the perpetrator, the pictures of him… It was an attempted kidnapping.”
Following the incident, a detailed letter was sent by parents to Cherry Creek School District, demanding an independent review of the school’s response. This investigation led to the replacement of former Principal Amanda Replogle, who later acknowledged a significant oversight in the school’s failure to initiate lockdown procedures during the incident.
In response to the kidnapping attempt, the school district has since implemented several reforms aimed at improving security measures, which include enhancing protocols, increasing security personnel, and providing mental health support for students.
