Recounts and tabulations have been completed for Sub-District Four of District Four and District Five, revealing a decrease in votes for the Alliance for National Unity (ANU) compared to the original declarations.
The ANU had initially secured 46,956 votes in District Four, but after the recount, their total decreased to 46,949 votes, seven fewer than the initial tally.
Similarly, in Region Five, the ANU’s votes also decreased from an initial 6,480 to 6,477 after the recount.
The recounts showed a significant shift in votes for other parties, including the Alliance for Change (AFC) and the Forward Guyana Movement (FGM), while the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) gained more votes.
The ANU has expressed concerns over the discrepancies, with their leader requesting a forensic audit and calling for the cancellation of the 2025 electoral process. However, the Guyana Elections Commission has stated that such claims would be addressed through an election petition before the High Court.
