President Dr. Irfaan Ali emphasized that modern communities should have basic infrastructure such as paved roads, concrete drains, and greenery. He also highlighted the importance of sustainable development, citing the need for responsible action, civic duty, and social capital to nurture living environments.
The comprehensive city revival plan for Georgetown aims to restore the city’s status as a source of national pride. Over the past five years, the government has invested billions in infrastructure projects, including upgrades to drainage systems, roads, and public spaces.
Dr. Jagdeo supported the President’s vision, stressing the need for improved environmental standards, better drainage, and regular garbage collection. He also emphasized the importance of creating safer communities through well-lit areas, police outposts, and recreational facilities.
