A former security personnel has been taken into custody in connection with a daring robbery at the Fantasy Gaming Lounge, located within Giftland Mall. Rakameem Nicholas, aged 21 and hailing from West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, appeared before the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court on Monday. His arrest comes nearly three weeks after he reportedly fled the scene following the June 22, 2025 incident.
During the court session presided over by Magistrate Abigail Gibbs, Nicholas faced charges related to discharging a firearm with intent, specifically targeting two individuals, Cassie Benjamin and Raywat Sankar, inside the gaming lounge. Allegations indicate that he aimed to inflict severe harm using his service weapon, which belonged to Castle Security Services.
In addition to the firearm charges, Nicholas is accused of theft for allegedly taking a 9mm Glock pistol alongside 17 rounds of ammunition, totaling a value of $450,000. Although media reports have connected him to an estimated $13.1 million robbery, no specific charges pertaining directly to the theft were put forth during the court appearance.
Pleading not guilty to the accusations, Nicholas was remanded to prison, with further proceedings scheduled for August 19, 2025. His capture followed a police operation prompted by a tip-off, leading to the discovery of the stolen firearm and related items in a guesthouse. The ongoing investigation continues to unfold, as authorities pursue clarity on the broader robbery case.
