The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the deportation of seven Guyanese individuals from the United States, each linked to various criminal activities.
The reported offences include grand larceny, assault, sexual assault, aggravated assault, illegal entry, and domestic violence. The specific allegations comprise one incident each of grand larceny, assault, aggravated assault, and illegal entry, along with two separate cases of sexual assault involving domestic violence.
While these issues are already known publicly, the Ministry took this opportunity to remind citizens about the serious repercussions of illegal actions and immigration violations while abroad. “Guyanese citizens are strongly encouraged to utilize only legal methods for migration, employment, education, and travel,” stated the Ministry. They emphasized that engaging in criminal activities or attempting to enter or stay in a foreign country unlawfully can result in arrest, imprisonment, and subsequent deportation.
Reiterating its dedication to public safety and national security, the Ministry affirmed its ongoing collaboration with international partners to regulate migration and enforce laws in the best interests of Guyana and its citizens. The Ministry also urged citizens to act responsibly and enhance the nation’s reputation while living or traveling overseas.
