Scheduled to be completed by August, the new Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Houston on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD) is set to become a vibrant center for local talent and Indigenous craftsmanship, aimed at drawing in numerous tourists.
This was highlighted during a site visit by President Dr. Irfaan Ali, who noted that Indigenous women from Santa Aratak will create crafts for exhibition in the hotel. The President emphasized the importance of integrating Indigenous artistic identity into the project, expressing his excitement about a dedicated area for showcasing Guyanese art, culture, and heritage.
The hotel will feature 172 modern rooms, a restaurant, bars, an outdoor pool, along with extensive meeting and retail spaces. President Ali remarked that this addition will enhance the East Bank corridor’s skyline and contribute to infrastructure development. Plans include a significant drainage system to support the area and create attractive hubs for local businesses.
Moreover, Ali proposed visions for new housing developments and an arena, aimed at revitalizing the region and improving the quality of life for Guyanese citizens. The hotel, constructed by Tama Investments LLC at a projected cost of $33.3 million, will be managed by the EuroBuilding Hotel Group, which is renowned for its sustainable practices. As Guyana welcomes new hotel brands, the Four Points by Sheraton is poised to become a key player in the country’s burgeoning tourism sector.
