A former teacher from South Carolina has been charged with engaging in a disturbing pattern of sexual abuse involving a teenage boy. Nicole Ballew Callaham, 33, voluntarily surrendered to authorities at the Anderson County Detention Center on Thursday, where she faced multiple serious charges, including three counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The investigation into Callaham began in May, revealing that the alleged misconduct extended over two years, starting in 2021. Authorities noted that Callaham initiated “grooming behavior” with the boy during his early teenage years.
According to the sheriff’s office, the situation escalated as Callaham frequently signed the student out of school, drove him to different practices, and supervised after-school activities. These interactions led to a sustained period of abuse, supported by evidence gathered through search warrants and cooperation with the victim’s family.
After reaching adulthood, the boy came forward, having spent time processing the trauma connected to his experiences. In addition to the charges filed in Anderson County, similar allegations have surfaced from the Greenville City Police Department. Callaham has since resigned from her position within the Anderson School District.
