13-Year-Old Boy Rescued by Firefighters After Climbing Out Window During Flat Fire
Hong Kong firefighters rescued a 13-year-old boy who climbed out of a window onto an air-conditioning unit to escape a fire at his flat in Tsui To House, while his mother was subsequently arrested on suspicion of child neglect.
According to the South China Morning Post, Hong Kong firefighters managed to rescue a 13-year-old boy who had climbed out of a window onto an air-conditioning unit to escape a fire that started in his flat. The incident took place at Tsui To House, which is one of the buildings within Tsui Ping (North) Estate in Kwun Tong.
Police were notified at 7:54 pm on Wednesday regarding the fire at the flat. Online video footage reportedly showed the boy, who was dressed only in his underwear, climbing out of the window as thick black smoke filled the apartment.
Firefighters utilized a ladder to reach the boy and brought him to safety. Approximately 70 residents were evacuated during the event, and the fire was put out around 8:25 pm. Furthermore, the South China Morning Post reported that the boy's mother has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect.
