38 Injured After Ceiling Collapse During Sales Event in Daegu
Thirty-eight individuals sustained injuries when a section of plaster finishing collapsed on the second floor of a four-storey building in Gwaneum-dong, Daegu, during a sales event. All 66 people inside evacuated independently, and none of the injuries are considered life-threatening.
According to the South China Morning Post, fire officials stated that shoppers fled after the plaster finishing on the second floor of a building in the southeast of the country gave way.
Local authorities and fire officials reported that the event took place around 10:16 am on the second floor of a four-storey structure in Gwaneum-dong. At the time of the collapse, a vendor was selling various items, including kitchenware, to elderly customers.
All 66 individuals present in the building managed to evacuate on their own following the collapse. A total of 38 people were reported to have suffered minor injuries, and nine of those injured were transported to medical facilities. It has been stated that none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
Firefighters deployed 14 vehicles and 60 personnel to the location to carry out safety measures and conduct a search. A comprehensive search conducted after the evacuation did not uncover any further casualties. Additionally, police officers were stationed around the area to manage traffic.
