Asian Airlines Data Breach Highlights Risks of Third-Party Reliance
A significant data breach impacting multiple airlines in Asia has prompted analysts to caution that the region's dependence on third-party suppliers may expose other critical infrastructure to future risks.
According to the South China Morning Post, a substantial data breach affecting numerous airlines throughout Asia has emphasized the necessity for industries within the region to re-evaluate their reliance on external suppliers. Analysts have issued warnings that other critical infrastructure sectors could potentially be impacted soon.
Last week, a series of airlines reported that customer data was accessed through a data security breach that involved the Spanish software provider Amadeus.
Information compromised in several of these breaches included details from bookings, such as flight information, passenger names, booking reference numbers, and travel itineraries.
