Bangkok flood-period tally: 21 flights disrupted, 14 Sunday delays of an hour or more
The two figures cover different measures: at least 21 Hong Kong–Bangkok flights were disrupted across Sunday and Monday, while the Hong Kong airport website recorded 14 Sunday flights delayed by at least one hour. One Hong Kong-bound service from Bangkok faced a delay of nearly 24 hours.
The South China Morning Post reported that heavy rain fell in Bangkok from Thursday to Monday, and that Thai officials declared the city a disaster zone. The publication described the flooding as Bangkok’s worst in 15 years.
The flight figures are not equivalent counts. At least 21 Hong Kong–Bangkok services were disrupted over Sunday and Monday; separately, the Hong Kong airport website listed 10 inbound and four outbound flights delayed by at least an hour on Sunday. One Hong Kong-bound service departing Bangkok faced a delay of nearly 24 hours.
The South China Morning Post also reported contrasting conditions within Bangkok: the central tourist area was less affected, and shopping centres remained open, while some neighbourhoods were underwater.
