Body of Missing Ferry Passenger Found on North Ayrshire Beach
The body of an 82-year-old missing ferry passenger, identified as Jim Wither, was discovered on a beach in North Ayrshire after a search operation.
According to BBC UK, the body of a passenger who was reported missing after falling overboard from the MV Caledonian Isles near Arran around 20:30 on Sunday, October 18, was located on a beach in North Ayrshire. The individual was later identified as 82-year-old Jim Wither, who had been reported missing from Johnstone, Renfrewshire. Police Scotland had previously received a report on Sunday regarding the discovery of a man's body in the Largs beach area, although formal identification had not yet occurred at that time; the family of Jim Wither has since been notified. A search effort involving two helicopters, a coastguard aircraft, Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) lifeboats, and local rescue teams was conducted, but the search was terminated at 16:55 on Monday. Officers stated that the death was not being treated as suspicious and that a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal in the future.
