Brazilian Julio Mamute's Journey: Losing Over 120kg and Conquering the Great Wall
Brazilian Julio Mamute, who once weighed 310kg, has lost over 120kg through swimming and exercise while participating in marathon events across six countries, most recently completing a 10km event on the Great Wall of China.
According to the South China Morning Post, Brazilian Julio Mamute, who previously reached a peak weight of 310kg, has set a long-term objective to weigh under 100kg, have excess skin removal surgery, and travel to Greece.
Mamute has managed to lose more than 120kg (265lbs) naturally by engaging in swimming and exercise, and over the last year, he has taken on marathon events in six different nations, with his most recent event being on the steep stone steps of the Great Wall of China a week ago.
Mamute informed the South China Morning Post that for him, running is not about achieving distance or winning medals, but rather about survival, stating, "I run to save my life" and "I run to live."
On a Sunday afternoon, Mamute managed to cross the finish line after an eight-hour struggle during the 10km event of the Great Wall of China Marathon. He described this event as the most physically demanding trial of his entire journey.
