The Chateau Margot Mall and Lifestyle Centre, located on the East Coast Demerara corridor, is 55 per cent complete one year into construction, with ANSA McAL Group investing nearly US$50 million. The development is slated for a 2027 completion and will feature retail, dining, office space, and parking.
According to the Guyana Times, the Chateau Margot Mall and Lifestyle Centre, situated on the East Coast Demerara corridor, has reached 55 per cent completion one year after construction officially commenced. ANSA McAL Group has invested close to US$50 million into this project.
The development, which is anticipated to be finished in 2027, is located roughly 15 kilometres from Georgetown, adjacent to the historic Chateau Margot Chimney.
ANSA McAL stated that the mall is designed to offer about 120,000 square feet of area for service providers, restaurants, and retail businesses. Structural work is significantly advanced, and the construction phase has already created numerous jobs, with further permanent employment expected once the facility is operational.
Joseph Rahael, the Real Estate Sector Head for ANSA McAL, mentioned that achieving the halfway point in the development was a significant milestone, emphasizing that the project was conceived to meet the requirements of local communities, shoppers, and businesses.
Rahael stated that every phase, from the initial design and feasibility studies to the construction, aimed to create a space that benefits tenants, shoppers, and the surrounding communities, adding that the goal was to establish a facility that could serve the East Coast for many decades.
A primary aspect of the project involves the restoration and upkeep of the Chateau Margot Chimney, which is being done in collaboration with the National Trust of Guyana.
The company also indicated that the area surrounding the chimney is being developed for public programs, cultural events, and recreational activities, thereby integrating the commercial growth with the preservation of the area's heritage.
In addition to the retail and dining options, the mall will incorporate premium office space available for rent and nearly 500 parking spaces.
Troy Cadogan, the Country Head for ANSA McAL in Guyana and Suriname, expressed that the development reflects the Group's belief in Guyana's economic outlook and its plan to expand alongside the nation.
Cadogan noted that Guyanese can observe this project developing along the East Coast daily, which demonstrates the Group's confidence in Guyana's future and its dedication to growing with the people they serve.
He expressed anticipation for welcoming families, entrepreneurs, and communities to the facility in 2027.
ANSA McAL has maintained operations in Guyana for over 30 years and holds business interests across six sectors: real estate, construction, media, automotive, distribution, and beverages. The Chateau Margot Mall is part of the Group's real estate expansion in Guyana.
