The South China Morning Post reports that China has a plan to finish a geological map of Mars by the end of 2028, a move occurring as the space rivalry between China and the United States intensifies. State news agency Xinhua indicated that this map is intended to be the first geological map of Mars developed using artificial intelligence and is slated to serve as a significant component of the preparations for the Tianwen-3 mission. The chief scientist on the Tianwen-3 mission stated that the resulting map is expected to become the global standard.
