DeepSeek Releases Six Software Modules to Support Huawei's Ascend 950 Accelerators
DeepSeek, based in Hangzhou, has launched six software modules intended to foster an independent and controllable software ecosystem for AI processors, mirroring its previous open-source tools for Nvidia's AI chips. These releases include an Ascend-compatible version of TileLang, which now supports Huawei's Ascend 950 accelerators.
Based on reporting by South China Morning Post:
According to a post on its official WeChat account, DeepSeek, which is located in Hangzhou, has made available six software modules. These modules are intended to establish a new software ecosystem for graphics processing units (GPUs) that is both independent and controllable, similar to the open-source tools the company previously offered for Nvidia's AI chips.
One of the released components is an Ascend-compatible version of TileLang. TileLang is a specialized programming language created to simplify the creation of high-performance kernels, which are critical computation programs designed to operate on central processing units and GPUs. Although TileLang initially designated Nvidia as its main backend, an update on the project's GitHub page indicates that it now officially supports Huawei's Ascend 950 accelerators, providing features such as automatic scheduling, native code generation, and synchronization.
