Design Proposal for Wing-Mounted Early-Warning Radar in Military Aircraft
Military aircraft designers have put forward a concept for integrating early-warning radar onto aircraft wings to enhance coverage during aerial combat, according to a study published in the South China Morning Post.
Military aircraft designers are suggesting the use of a wing-mounted early-warning radar to increase coverage while engaged in air combat. According to a study published online on October 10 in the peer-reviewed Chinese journal Measurement & Control Technology, this design presents wing-mounted radar as a novel method for constructing multifunctional, high-performance airborne early-warning systems. The South China Morning Post noted that while aircraft wings possess a substantial surface area, their cross-sections are relatively thin, which restricts the internal space available for housing radar apparatus.
