According to BBC UK, Everton forward Thierno Barry expressed relief that his family was not present at his home in Greater Manchester when it was burglarized on Thursday evening. The incident occurred while Barry was participating in a Carabao Cup match for Everton against Newcastle United at the Hill Dickinson stadium.
Barry, who is 24 years old, posted on Instagram stating that the situation could have been significantly worse had his partner and toddler been in the stands. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed that officers are currently investigating reports of a burglary at an address in the Bowdon area of Trafford.
Barry stated that he would refrain from posting about his life on social media in the future to avoid putting his family at risk. He reflected that he might have been overly open about his personal life and family, potentially exposing them to danger, while sharing his journey and success to inspire others.
Barry shared that his upbringing was not easy, but he maintained that hope exists when one provides oneself with the best opportunities. He noted that some aspects of life are beyond human control, and emphasized that the most crucial element in life is caring for and protecting loved ones, asserting that everything else is merely materialistic.
Greater Manchester Police indicated that no arrests have been made as of this time, and their inquiries are continuing. Separately, Everton defeated Newcastle 3-1 to advance to the fifth round, with Barry contributing the winning goal.
