Firefighters Remain at Glasgow Scrapyard Blaze Scene on Second Night
Firefighters continued to work at a significant fire at a scrapyard in Glasgow on the second night, with nine fire engines and specialist equipment responding to the incident.
According to the BBC UK, firefighters were present at the location of a major fire at a scrapyard on South Street in the Scotstoun area of Glasgow for a second night. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) reported that the alarm was triggered at the business around 23:23 on Friday. One local resident managed to record dramatic footage of the fire at its height, which included explosive sounds coming from a section consumed by flames. Nine fire engines, two high-reach vehicles, and specialist resources were deployed to the incident, and no injuries were reported. The SFRS stated that crews remained on site overnight, and three appliances were still present at the scene on Sunday afternoon. During the emergency response, a high volume water pump was utilized to draw water from the adjacent River Clyde. The public was advised to keep their windows and doors shut if they could observe smoke.
