Former Nursing Student Sentenced to Prison for Theft at Hong Kong Hospital
A 29-year-old former nursing student, Leung Ho-fung, was sentenced to two years and four months in prison by Hong Kong's District Court after admitting guilt to 11 counts of theft, resulting in losses of at least HK$59,000.
According to the South China Morning Post, Leung Ho-fung, who is 29 years old, received a sentence of two years and four months in prison from the District Court after entering a guilty plea to 11 charges of theft.
Leung, a former nursing student at a prominent private hospital in Hong Kong, was found to have stolen cash, a phone, and credit cards from both patients and colleagues, leading to financial losses amounting to no less than HK$59,000 (US$7,517).
He confessed to stealing an iPhone, HK$6,500 in cash, and nine credit cards from four patients and four colleagues at the Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital located in Happy Valley. These incidents occurred between September 19 and October 23, 2024.
Furthermore, the report indicates that Leung utilized some of the cards that were stolen to make purchases totaling HK$52,875 at an Apple store on three separate occasions.
