Herve Dagorne Urges Hong Kong Cycling Success After Hiring Kevin Sireau
Herve Dagorne, according to the South China Morning Post, feels pressure to produce a champion Hong Kong cyclist after assembling a high-caliber coaching staff, which now includes three-time world champion Kevin Sireau leading the sprint squad.
Herve Dagorne, as reported by the South China Morning Post, stated that he needed to accelerate efforts to produce a champion Hong Kong cyclist before his tenure concludes, following the completion of a lengthy process to build a world-class coaching team that possesses winning experience.
The appointment of Kevin Sireau, a two-time Olympic silver medalist, to head the city's sprint squad represented the final element in a complex assembly that head coach Dagorne has been working on for the last two years.
Sireau, who is also a three-time world champion, commenced his work on Monday. He joined a staff that includes Mickael Bouget, the former Swiss track cycling head coach, and Remi Anase, who was instrumental in the 2024 omnium Olympic gold medal success of Benjamin Thomas, another Frenchman.
Additionally, the team features Cheung King-wai, who was the points race champion at the 2006 Asian Games, Anthony Peden, the former New Zealand sprint head coach who guided Hong Kong to a men’s team sprint bronze at a recent Games, and Ben Kersten, who serves as the road endurance chief and is a 2006 Commonwealth Games gold medalist.
