Hogan Marks 40th Anniversary by Celebrating Its Founding Vision
The Italian luxury shoemaker Hogan is celebrating its 40th anniversary by highlighting its original vision: creating well-made footwear that balances modern life's pace with design and craftsmanship. The brand's history includes the cricket-inspired Traditional shoe and the 1990s Interactive sneaker.
According to the South China Morning Post, the Italian luxury shoemaker Hogan is celebrating its 40th anniversary by producing short films, limited-edition Cool Blue sneakers, and offering scholarships to students at a Rome film school.
Founded in 1986 within the Tod’s Group, Hogan began with the Traditional, a streamlined, cricket-inspired shoe defined by a pared-back elegance. Prior to the rise of luxury sneakers as a standard wardrobe item, Hogan recognized a market opportunity for a shoe that could transition smoothly between casual and sophisticated styles. The brand is marking this milestone by reaffirming its original conviction that high-quality footwear should support the speed of contemporary living without sacrificing design or artisanal quality.
Its initial offering was the Traditional shoe, which featured a streamlined, cricket-inspired design characterized by a pared-back elegance. A subsequent significant development occurred in the 1990s with the creation of the Interactive sneaker. This design emerged after Andrea Della Valle noticed women wearing trainers while commuting before needing to switch to more formal shoes for their workplace. The resulting sneaker, identifiable by its softly contoured shape and prominent 'H', provided an early solution to the question of why comfort needed to cease at the entrance to an office.
