According to the South China Morning Post, the chief executive has stated that Hong Kong's media outlets need to remove falsehoods and broaden their global reach. The leader urged journalists to act as representatives for positive narratives concerning mainland China and the city.
One of the chief executive's initial expectations was for media professionals to protect the truth, dispel misinformation, and promote positive aspects, referencing a Chinese idiom that translates to 'draining away filth and ushering in fresh water.' Furthermore, the city leader also called on journalists to remain alert to 'hidden dangers' that might cause societal disruption.
