Hong Kong Man Returns Home After 26 Years in Philippine Prison
Tang Lung-wai, 55, has returned to Hong Kong after spending 26 years in a Philippine prison while contesting drug possession convictions, with his return delayed by a two-month court ruling.
According to the South China Morning Post, Tang Lung-wai, a 55-year-old man from Hong Kong, has been released from a Philippine prison after serving 26 years while facing convictions related to drug possession. His return to Hong Kong on Tuesday evening was subject to a two-month delay following a court decision that commuted his life sentence.
Upon his arrival at the Hong Kong International Airport from Manila, Tang Lung-wai was observed embracing his older brother, Billy Tang Lung-piu.
When asked about his feelings regarding his return to his home city, Tang Lung-wai stated that after spending 26 years in what he described as hell, he felt unflappable. Earlier that day, he mentioned that the instant he was uncuffed upon exiting a car in Manila, he felt a sense of freedom. He also noted that he was fortunate to be able to walk out physically sound.
