According to the South China Morning Post, the men's singles gold medal secured by Coleman Wong Chak-lam at the Asian Games, in addition to the bronze medal in women's doubles achieved by Eudice Chong and Cody Wong Hong-yi, has resulted in tennis being granted Tier A status in Hong Kong.

Wong Chak-lam's significant victory in the men's singles at the Asian Games not only earned him a place in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics but also ensured that tennis maintained its elite status in Hong Kong for an additional four years.

Wong defeated Wu Yibing from China in straight sets during the final held at the Higashiyama Park Tennis Centre in Nagoya, marking him as the first singles winner from his city at the continental Games.

The bronze medal secured by Eudice Chong and Cody Wong Hong-yi in women's doubles contributed to the most successful showing for the sport at the Games, following two bronze medals won by Coleman Wong and the youth men's team at the National Games last November.

Nevertheless, Michael Cheng Ming-git, who serves as the president of the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association, stated that his organization would dedicate minimal time to celebrating the achievements and was firm that the subsequent actions required to sustain the sport's growth had already commenced.
