Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival to Expand with More Booth Space and Extended Hours
The Tourism Board plans to introduce a 'Hong Kong Gourmet Month' in November following the annual Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival, which will feature 10 per cent more booths and extended hours until 1 am on two nights to encourage visitor spending.
According to the South China Morning Post, the annual Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival, scheduled for late October, will incorporate 10 per cent additional booths and will have its opening hours extended until 1 am on two occasions. Following this four-day festival, the Tourism Board intends to launch a 'Hong Kong Gourmet Month' throughout November to promote longer stays and increase visitor expenditure.
The festival, which is organized by the board under the theme “Taste the World’s Best,” will take place at the Central Harbourfront from October 29 to November 1. On the initial day, the festival will open at 7:30 pm, while on the subsequent days, it will open at 1 pm. The board anticipates that this year's event will draw 168,000 visitors, which is slightly more than the 160,000 attendees from the previous year.
For the first time, the event will operate until 1 am on October 30 and October 31. The four-day festival will be succeeded by the “Hong Kong Gourmet Month” in November, which will showcase more upscale dining activities. Peter Lam Kin-ngok, the board chairman, stated on Wednesday that the goal of these efforts is to foster longer visits and greater spending from visitors, thereby generating further business opportunities for the trade.
