Ivanka Trump Wears Guo Pei Couture During Xi Jinping's Visit to Washington
South China Morning Post reports that Ivanka Trump wore a blue embroidered couture outfit designed by Chinese couturier Guo Pei during President Xi Jinping's state visit to Washington, an event that highlighted the international recognition of Chinese bespoke fashion.
According to the South China Morning Post, Ivanka Trump wore a blue embroidered couture ensemble during the welcome ceremony for President Xi Jinping's state visit to Washington last month, which has brought attention to the designer and the increasing global recognition of Chinese custom fashion.
The garment was created by Guo Pei, who is recognized as one of China's most prominent couturiers and has previously designed attire for figures such as pop star Rihanna, including a notable yellow embroidered cape with a long train and fur trim worn at the 2015 Met Gala.
Guo informed the South China Morning Post that the outfit was not specifically created for the diplomatic event, but that the selection of its design and color was carefully considered. She stated that the color blue was selected to communicate tranquility and a mutual hope for peace.
Furthermore, Guo mentioned that the outfit had initially been planned for a forthcoming trip to China that Ivanka Trump was anticipated to undertake with her father. She also noted that she and Ivanka Trump had discussed the design and color of the attire earlier in the year.
