Kimi Antonelli Could Become Youngest F1 Champion at Texas Race
According to the South China Morning Post, Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli is positioned to potentially become the youngest champion in Formula 1 at the upcoming race in Austin, Texas, following his third-place finish in the Singapore Grand Prix.
The South China Morning Post reports that Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli has expressed aspirations of achieving a historic world title at the next race in Austin, Texas. Antonelli, who is 20 years old, secured his 14th podium finish of the season at the Singapore Grand Prix. Should he succeed, this title would establish Antonelli as Formula 1's youngest champion and the first Italian driver to achieve such a feat since 1953.
Antonelli's third-place finish during the Singapore GP, which was managed entirely by Red Bull's Max Verstappen, was described as scrappy, as he came close to receiving a penalty for pushing the track's boundaries. Nevertheless, this result allowed him to increase his lead over his teammate, George Russell, to 102 points. When questioned about the possibility of winning the title in Austin later this month during his return journey, Antonelli responded affirmatively.
