King and Williams Account for One-Third of Guyana’s Championship Medals

Tremel King and Bjorn Williams won seven medals at the 2026 South American Powerlifting Championships in Santiago, Chile—one-third of Guyana’s reported 21-medal tally. Kaieteur News reported the national total as six gold, 10 silver and five bronze medals. The pair competed in the 105kg Masters 1 category.
King contributed four medals: gold in squat (272.5kg), deadlift (300kg) and total (747.5kg), plus silver in benchpress (175kg). Kaieteur News reported that his deadlift and total set Fesupo records. Williams won three: overall silver with a total of 692.5kg, deadlift silver at 287.5kg and benchpress bronze at 162.5kg.
The report also described three Guyanese international debutants who did not medal. Sereste King placed sixth in the 105kg Open category. Joshua John and Omali Vancooten placed eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 93kg Open category.
