A letter published in Kaieteur News reflects on the author's experiences with Eusi Kwayana, noting his longevity and the impact of his guidance.
In a letter published in Kaieteur News on October 26, 2026, Luke Daniels shared his experiences with Eusi Kwayana. Daniels mentioned that he had become acquainted with Kwayana while he was a prominent radical politician in the news before meeting him in London as a member of the Working People’s Alliance support group. During a meeting hosted by Daniels in London, he learned that Eusi did not consume cooked food, which led Daniels to observe that Kwayana maintained a notable physical and mental condition until his passing at the age of 101.
Following this meeting in the 1980s, Daniels returned to Guyana to engage in political activities with the Working People’ Alliance. He spent three months learning from Eusi Kwayana's quiet wisdom at the Walter Rodney House on Croal Street in Georgetown. Daniels also dedicated time to organizing for the party in Linden, his birthplace, and later completed an apprenticeship in the bauxite industry. Upon returning to London and subsequently being elected president of Caribbean Labour Solidarity, Eusi Kwayana offered his time as a mentor, congratulating Daniels and emphasizing the significance of his new role. Daniels expressed his deep gratitude, stating that Kwayana's kind wisdom and gentle encouragement would always be remembered.
