Based on reporting by South China Morning Post:

Tourism representatives indicated that the fireworks display and a shorter holiday contributed to the 19.1 per cent year-on-year increase in arrivals on the first day of the holiday.

Data from the Immigration Department showed that 277,304 mainland visitors arrived on October 1. This figure represented a 19.1 per cent increase compared to 232,751 visitors on the first day of the holiday last year, and a 25.1 per cent increase compared to 221,644 in 2024.

Lawmaker Perry Yiu Pak-leung stated that the fireworks were a significant factor, and also noted that this year's seven-day holiday was one day shorter than the previous year's, which may have encouraged some visitors to begin their trips earlier.

Following the initial spike, the number of mainland arrivals decreased significantly. On the second day, mainland arrivals increased by 5.4 per cent year-on-year to 234,007. On the third day, the number was virtually unchanged at 221,566. On the fourth day, mainland arrivals rose by 2.3 per cent to 206,180.
