Monumental Chinese Buddhist Art in Met Gallery 206 Impresses Visitors and Experts
A vast Buddhist assembly mural in Gallery 206 of the Metropolitan Museum of Art has been noted for its scale and impact, leaving a lasting impression on Zhang Jian, director of the Meticulous Painting Institute at the Chinese National Academy of Arts.
According to the South China Morning Post, a specific piece of Chinese Buddhist art housed in Gallery 206 of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York presents a monumental wall. This artwork spans over 15 meters in width and 7.5 meters in height, which is described as nearly 50 feet by 25 feet, and features a Buddhist assembly so immense and grand that it momentarily distract visitors from the activity in Manhattan.
Zhang Jian, who serves as the director of the Meticulous Painting Institute at the Chinese National Academy of Arts, was reportedly impressed by this work after visiting the Met on three occasions prior to 2023.
