Based on reporting by South China Morning Post:

According to the UAE attorney general, as reported by the state news agency, an Omani co-pilot working for Flydubai had devised a plan to take control of a flight traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv and intentionally crash it into a terminal at Ben Gurion airport in Israel on September 30 as a suicide attack.

UAE public prosecutors maintain that the scheme drew inspiration from the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States. An investigation initiated on October 1 revealed that the suspect had utilized two prior flights to Tel Aviv to become familiar with the flight path and the airport, according to the state news agency WAM.

The incident resulted in the jet descending 16,000 feet within a span of 30 seconds.

The attorney general also indicated that the suspect had prior employment with various airlines in different nations, such as Oman Air and Royal Air Maroc, before commencing employment with Flydubai in January 2026.
