Reward Offered for Information Regarding 2022 Murder of Jinming Zhang in Birmingham
Crimestoppers is offering a £20,000 reward for anonymous information leading to the conviction of the person responsible for the 2022 murder of Jinming Zhang in a Birmingham flat. The victim was found stabbed multiple times in a property on Moseley Street in Digbeth, which police stated was operating as a brothel.
Crimestoppers has announced a £20,000 reward for any information provided anonymously that could result in the conviction of the individual responsible for the death of Jinming Zhang, a Chinese national, who was discovered deceased in a flat in Birmingham in 2022.
According to reports from BBC UK, Jinming Zhang had been stabbed numerous times before his body was found in the residence, which authorities indicated was being used as a brothel on Moseley Street in Digbeth.
West Midlands Police previously released CCTV footage showing a suspect, who was described as black, in his late 20s at the time, possessing an average build, standing about 5ft 4ins. This masked suspect was seen wearing dark clothing and a dark hat while walking along Barford Street shortly before the murder.
Forensic testing on a DNA sample found at the scene determined that the suspect was male and that there was a 99.99% probability that he was black. However, this DNA sample did not yield a match against the national database.
Jenny Birch, who is overseeing the investigation, has called on anyone possessing information, regardless of how minor it may seem, to contact the police. She stated that the investigation would continue until answers were found, noting that the DNA sample allows investigators to quickly and easily rule out individuals during the ongoing inquiry.
While robbery was considered a possible motive, police have not confirmed this theory. The case was previously covered in the BBC series Forensics: The Real CSI last year, which suggested that the murder suspect might have sustained an injury to his hand during the violent attack.
