According to the South China Morning Post, jury selection occurred on Monday for the trial of the British actor and comedian, Russell Brand, regarding alleged past crimes involving rape and other sexual offenses. Brand, who is 51 years old, has denied all the allegations brought against him. He faces charges that include three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault, which relate to six women between 1999 and 2009. Brand, who was previously a prominent broadcaster in Britain and the former spouse of US singer Katy Perry, appeared at London’s Southwark Crown Court wearing sunglasses and was accompanied by his wife. During the proceedings, he was observed sitting in the dock, frequently looking straight ahead or with his eyes closed.
