Search Continues Off Massachusetts Coast for Missing Air Ambulance
A search operation continued on Sunday off the Massachusetts coast for a Gulfstream G100 air ambulance that vanished on Saturday while flying from Bermuda to Boston, with authorities planning to examine the seabed.
According to the South China Morning Post, a search operation persisted on Sunday off the Massachusetts coast for an air ambulance transporting six individuals that went missing during a flight traveling from Bermuda to Boston. Authorities indicated plans to search the seabed.
The Federal Aviation Administration notified the coastguard at 2 am on Saturday that it had lost contact with the Gulfstream G100, which was carrying four Canadian nationals and two Bermudian nationals over the Atlantic Ocean. Rear Admiral Matt Lake of the Coast Guard Northeast District stated at a press conference on Sunday that searchers had located a "debris field" off the coast of Nantucket on Saturday.
Coastguard personnel, alongside the New York National Guard’s Air Rescue Wing and Massachusetts officials, have conducted searches within an area covering 7,356 sq km (2,840 square miles). These searches have utilized fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, boats, and cutters. Rear Admiral Lake commented that this constitutes a substantial and demanding search area.
