Shenzhen Transsion's Hong Kong Share Offering Sees Lukewarm Response Amid Declining Retail Interest
Shenzhen Transsion Holdings' HK$3.36 billion (US$428 million) Hong Kong share offering received a lukewarm reception, attracting approximately 14,000 applications and being oversubscribed about 3.5 times, according to the South China Morning Post. This follows a sharp decrease in retail participation in Hong Kong initial public offerings since September.
Shenzhen Transsion Holdings received a tepid reception for its Hong Kong share offering valued at HK$3.36 billion (US$428 million), which has raised concerns regarding the sentiment in the market for new listings during the fourth quarter, according to the South China Morning Post. The company that produces Africa's best-selling phones concluded its bookbuilding on Monday, with preliminary data indicating the offering garnered around 14,000 applications and achieved an oversubscription of roughly 3.5 times, as reported by individuals familiar with the situation.
Retail involvement in Hong Kong initial public offerings (IPOs) has experienced a marked decline since September. Of the 12 listings that occurred last month, only two, namely Camsense Technologies and Mech-Mind Robotics Technologies, attracted more than 100,000 retail applicants. Furthermore, Red Avenue New Materials Group registered the lowest demand with only 12,645 applications, based on the companies' allotment results.
Conversely, during July and August, 11 out of 19 listings managed to surpass the 100,000 applicant threshold, with Momenta and Basic Semiconductor both exceeding 200,000 applicants.
