Slingerz Dominates Den Amstel 8-0 in Elite League West Side Derby

According to Kaieteur News, Slingerz FC achieved a commanding 8-0 victory over Den Amstel FC during the opening match of a scheduled double-header in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League at the National Training Centre in Providence on November 1, 2026.

Jamaican striker Kemar Beckford and Neron Barrow, who was last season's top goalscorer, both scored hat-tricks in the match for the defending champions. Kelsey Benjamin and Darron Niles, who was last season's Most Valuable Player (MVP), also contributed goals to the score.

The eight-goal margin represented the largest victory Slingerz FC has achieved against Den Amstel since both clubs began competing in the Elite League, thereby extending their unbeaten run against their Region Three opponents.

Despite Slingerz being the most successful club from the West Demerara area, the Vergenoegen-based team has frequently faced competitive contests with Den Amstel, making the West Side Derby a highly significant fixture.

Den Amstel has not managed to defeat Slingerz in the Elite League, with their closest encounter being a 1-1 draw during the 2024 competition.

The result provided Slingerz FC with their sixth consecutive win in the current campaign, bringing their total to 18 points and placing them level with Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Football Club, which also holds a perfect record from its first six matches.

Slingerz currently possesses the league's most prolific attack, having scored 25 goals, as they continue to position themselves as title contenders.
