According to the South China Morning Post, two men died and over a dozen individuals were injured on Saturday following incidents where floats overturned during yearly festivals in Osaka Prefecture.

In Izumisano, police stated that a 51-year-old man became trapped under a float that overturned while he was participating on it with other attendees. He was subsequently declared deceased at a hospital, and seven other people were injured in that event.

Separately, at an event in Izumiotsu, a 48-year-old man died after a float toppled, trapping him underneath, according to the prefectural police. He was reportedly riding the float when the incident occurred, and nine other people sustained injuries.

The police indicated that both accidents took place while the "danjiri" floats were being steered around corners. These danjiri floats are pulled through city streets using only human power in festivals that originated as prayers for a bountiful harvest in the southwestern region of the prefecture.

Accidents are frequently observed during the "yarimawashi," which is a notable part of these parades where the floats execute turns without halting.
