Two Onderneeming parcels, two housing purposes under one order
Guyana Times reports that the Housing Ministry and CH&PA describe Order No. 180 of 2026 as covering two Government-owned parcels at Plantation Onderneeming: about 26.85 acres occupied by informal settlers and about 155.13 acres intended for a new housing development. The Ministry says both are part of a land-registration process, not a personal purchase by President Dr Irfaan Ali.
Guyana Times reports that the Housing Ministry and Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) say Order No. 180 of 2026 covers two parcels at Plantation Onderneeming with different housing purposes. Parcel 936, about 26.85 acres, is occupied by informal settlers; the Ministry says registration will advance the process for eligible residents to obtain Certificates of Title. Parcel 1793, about 155.13 acres and previously identified as Block “CHPA 3”, is intended for a new housing development, with titles eventually to be issued to beneficiaries.
The Ministry puts their combined area at approximately 182 acres and says both parcels are Government-owned, held under Transport No. 130 of 1876. It describes the order as the first step in bringing them under the Land Registration system, to facilitate the legal processes required for eventual title issuance.
The Ministry also says President Dr Irfaan Ali signed the order in his official capacity as the minister responsible for housing, exercising a statutory responsibility—not as a private purchaser of the land.
