US Navy Establishes Robotic and Autonomous Systems Warfighting Development Centre in Virginia
The Robotic and Autonomous Systems Warfighting Development Centre was formally created in Virginia on September 24 to unify air, surface, and underwater unmanned platforms into a cohesive combat-ready force.
According to the South China Morning Post, the Robotic and Autonomous Systems Warfighting Development Centre was officially set up in Virginia on September 24. This center is intended to develop tactics and doctrine for unmanned systems, train personnel to operate them, and evaluate their functionality under realistic operational circumstances.
In a statement regarding the center's inauguration, Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Daryl Caudle noted that the navy had dedicated years to developing and testing robotic systems, but much of that effort had been conducted independently across various warfighting areas.
Admiral Caudle stated that the subsequent phase involves integration, asserting that demonstrating the functionality of a single system is insufficient, as he remarked that a prototype does not constitute combat power.
