US Secretary of State Marco Rubio States Washington Seeks Central Asian Business Competition Without Demanding China Ties Cease
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Monday that Washington intends to compete for business opportunities in Central Asia without requiring nations to cease their partnerships with China, as the US and five Central Asian countries detailed cooperation plans regarding minerals, transport, and technology during his visit to Uzbekistan.
According to the South China Morning Post, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Monday that Washington desires to compete for business within Central Asia without pressuring countries to discontinue their engagement with China. This statement was made as the United States and five Central Asian nations outlined plans to enhance collaboration concerning minerals, transportation, and technology during Rubio's visit to Uzbekistan.
When asked what the United States could provide as China increased its presence in the area, Rubio commented, asserting that the situation involves competition. He stated that the US possesses products and companies that manufacture goods, and the objective is to secure fair competition and opportunities.
Rubio clarified that the initiative is not intended to be a directive telling nations to cease discussions with other countries or stop working with specific nations.
