According to the South China Morning Post, Vann Kwok's jewellery, which is characterized by its sculptural and narrative focus, has been featured in various art exhibitions. While contemporary fashion often values trendiness and influence, Kwok, who is a costume designer from Hong Kong, prioritizes artistic narrative over seasonal hype or social capital.

Kwok established Vann Jewellery in 2019, initially with the aim of creating items that were both fashionable and cool. However, she commented that as a middle-aged woman, being cool is no longer a necessity or something she feels driven to attain. She stated that while she appreciates it if people find her work cool, its primary function is as a means of self-expression, and she now views her brand as a method of communicating with the world.

Kwok, who is in her early forties, previously studied fashion design at Hong Kong’s Polytechnic University and spent the majority of her twenties working in the local film industry as a costume designer. In 2013, she made the decision to enroll in the fashion artefact master’s programme at the University of the Arts London. She noted that she greatly enjoyed the course because of its highly experimental methodology and its significant emphasis on material, which prompted her to examine the distinctions between art and fashion.
