According to BBC UK, rail passengers are being advised to verify their travel plans because of problems with the overhead lines on the West Coast Main Line in Staffordshire.

Work was in progress to resolve a fault involving the 25,000-volt wires that supply power to trains near Penkridge, which resulted in service interruptions between Stafford and Wolverhampton.

National Rail announced at 12:00 BST that the lines between Stafford and Birmingham New Street had reopened, but residual disruptions might persist until 16:00 BST on Saturday.

Adam Checkley of Network Rail stated that their teams had resolved the problem, enabling the route to reopen, but noted that delays and cancellations would continue throughout the day because trains and their crews were out of position.

Rail replacement buses are available at Birmingham, Stafford, and Wolverhampton.

Checkley also expressed regret to passengers affected by the overhead line issues at Four Ashes near Penkridge, adding that people should check National Rail Enquiries before traveling due to the likely service disruptions throughout the day.

Ticket acceptance is available on alternative routes, which include the East Coast Main Line and the Midland Main Line via Sheffield.
