
In a recent meeting in Beijing, Premier Li Qiang commended the productive collaboration between China and Senegal, expressing optimism about future endeavors. Highlighting a long-standing relationship built on mutual respect and equality, Li emphasized the importance of continuing to support each other and advancing practical cooperation as both countries pursue modernization.
Li reiterated China’s commitment to align development strategies with Senegal, aiming to enhance the quality and efficiency of cooperation across various sectors. He encouraged both nations to leverage trade and investment facilitation measures to boost bilateral trade, particularly in agricultural processing, industrial parks, new energy, the digital economy, and information security.
The Premier also welcomed Chinese enterprises to invest in Senegal and encouraged Senegalese businesses to actively participate in platforms such as the China International Import Expo to increase their market presence in China. With 2026 designated as the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, he proposed joint activities to enrich cultural and intellectual exchanges, fostering mutual understanding.
Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko expressed admiration for China’s impressive development and gratitude for its ongoing support. He affirmed Senegal’s willingness to strengthen high-level interactions with China, particularly in economy, trade, energy, finance, and agriculture, while furthering cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative. Sonko also emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to uphold multilateralism and the interests of the Global South.
