
During a recent visit to Brasília, President Dr. Irfaan Ali engaged in important bilateral discussions with Brazil’s President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Their talks prioritized the advancement of infrastructure projects and emphasized collaborative efforts in biodiversity conservation and forest protection in anticipation of COP30.
The occasion was part of the Brazil–Caribbean Summit 2025, where President Ali, together with other CARICOM leaders, convened with Brazilian officials to explore cooperative ventures of mutual interest.
Additionally, on the sidelines of the summit, President Ali held a meeting with Sergio Diaz-Granados Guida, the head of the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF). This meeting was focused on identifying financing opportunities that could help advance significant projects in Guyana and the broader region.
Taking place at the Itamaraty Palace, the Brazil–Caribbean Summit aims to enhance political and economic relationships between Brazil and Caribbean countries, centering on themes of sustainable development, regional integration, and bolstering climate resilience.
